Science & newest skin care treatment
Always nice to see, people enjoying the sun to the fullest and using the light to recharge their bodies and minds. Just too bad about the accompanying skin ageing. Isn't there a smarter solution for that, preferably resulting in skin rejuvenation? Yes there is: red light therapy!
Radiant skin through more ATP (energy)
How is it that red light contributes to the quality of your skin? Radiant skin is healthy, energy-rich skin, partly as a result of sufficient energy in the skin cells. Our cells, including skin cells, are able to convert light into energy thanks to a mechanism called cytochrome c oxidase. Using that energy, known in technical terms as ATP, the skin promotes the process of creating new cells and releasing ageing ones. As a result, pores sag less, spots and wrinkles fade, the suppleness and firmness of the skin increases and even acne is addressed with it. This is according to Iranian research cited by author Mark Sloan in his book on red light titled Miracle Medicine. The fact that thanks to an increase in ATP, healthier processes kick into high gear can also be seen in other areas.
Faster skin healing
Following on from this, it should come as no surprise that, in the case of skin injuries, it has been shown that the healing process is promoted by the use of red light, as described in detail by Stephanie Hallett in her book "Healing with red light", one of a now growing number of scientifically based books on red light therapy. Incidentally, the accelerated wound healing does not concern a placebo effect, as it has also been demonstrated in injured animals, Dr Michael Belkowski shows in his book "Red light therapy - treatment protocols".
Scientific research shows: red light rejuvenates the skin
Science is discovering red light as a skin-rejuvenating therapy. It has been shown to work and it is now also clear how it can rejuvenate the skin. Red light reverses ageing processes along several routes. One such route is that red light can recharge cells' power plants. How exactly does this happen? Every human cell has several hundred to thousands of power plants called mitochondria. These produce energy, but need to be fed. This can be done with healthy food, but also with light. With enough very specific frequencies of red light, they can produce more energy and even more mitochondria are created. Cells that have access to sufficient energy perform better, resulting in stronger and more supple skin, among other things.
Increased collagen production
Another example of the efficacy of red light therapy is that the light penetrates centimetres deep into the skin and does two things there, among others. One is that it boosts collagen production. And that's great, because collagen is what keeps your skin smooth and supple. Collagen is what a person of 60 has only half of compared to when she was 25. So collagen, that's what you want more of after age 25, rather than less. Fortunately, this is possible by exposing yourself to very specific frequencies of red light. With that, you immediately experience the second efficacy of the light's penetration and that is to counteract inflammation. Inflammations damage the underlying structure of the skin and are thus drivers of skin ageing.
Red light therapy for at home
You can experience red light therapy at a therapist's office, but more and more people are applying the therapy at home, partly because it is a very pleasant experience. In fact, there is excellent equipment available that lets you bring red light therapy into your home. I myself have a full body panel that I look forward to every day, but there are also smaller panels, for example to illuminate your face with.
Self-healing ability
With red light therapy, you bring the sun into your home, but only its best elements. By letting the light shine, you combine the healing properties of sunlight with man's self-healing ability. Our body is able to heal itself of particularly many ailments and conditions, if it is enabled to do so by, for example, healthy diet and sufficient red light. Check out which panels and beds might be right for you via this link. Give your body what it needs, support it with red light, and see the results in, among other things, radiant, young skin!'
